I’ve had a combined total of 8 surgeries on my feet. One was a midfoot reconstruction from a crush injury, another was the removal of one of the sesamoid bones due to damage caused by rheumatoid arthritis. These are not the only brand I have tried, but they are more substantial and well-made. They help cushion my big toes, which suffer from inflamed sesamoid pain and arthritic changes. I only wear them when I put on any shoe with a heel, and for during dance classes and performances (mostly ballet). I wear my ballet tights over them, or slip socks over them, to help keep everything in place (I also use foam toe separators, and wrap my toes, etc.).
